Dilip Kumar (11 December 1922 – 7 July 2021) Birth Name: Yusuf Khan), was a famous and popular actor of Hindi films who was a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament. Dilip Kumar is considered to be one of the finest actors of his era, he was also known as the ‘Tragedy King’ due to his role in tragic or tragic roles.

Dilip Kumar’s birth name was Muhammad Yusuf Khan. He was born in Peshawar (now in Pakistan). His father had settled in Mumbai, where he started working in Hindi films. He changed his name to Dilip Kumar so that he would get more recognition and success in Hindi films.

Dilip Kumar`s married actress Saira Banu in 1966. He was 44 years old and Saira Banu was 22 at the time of marriage. For some time in 1980, he also had a second marriage with Asma.

He was a member of Rajya Sabha from the year 2000.

1980 he was declared the Sheriff of Mumbai to honor him. In 1995, he was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. In 1998, he was also awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s highest civilian award.

Career of Dilip Kumar

Her first film was ‘Jwar Bhata’, which came in 1944. The success of the 1949 film Andaz brought her fame, in which she worked with Raj Kapoor. He was known as the Tragedy King because of his tragic roles in films like Didaar (1951) and Devdas (1955). He played the role of Mughal prince Jahangir in Mughle-e-Azam (1960). The film was first black and white and was made color in 2004. He also produced the film Ganga Jamuna in 1961, in which his younger brother Nasir Khan worked with him.

In the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, he acted in fewer films. His major films of this period were: Vidhata (1982), Duniya (1984), Karma (1986), Izzatdar (1990) and Saudagar (1991). His last film was the 1998 film Quila.

She worked with Amitabh Bachchan in Ramesh Sippy’s film Shakti. He also received the Filmfare Award for this film.

He is still an inspiration to leading actors like Shahrukh Khan.

Dilip Kumar`s Death

Veteran actor Dilip Kumar breathed his last on July 7, 2021, at the age of 98. With his passing, an era of Hindi cinema has come to an end. Dilip Kumar died in the hospital at around 7.30 am on Wednesday. Dilip Kumar was ill for a long time. He was admitted to the hospital twice in the last 1 month.
