Vyjayanthimala, born on August 13, 1936, is from a Tamil Brahmin family. Her mother Vasundhara Devi has also been a leading heroine in Tamil films. His father’s name was A.D. Raman.

Vyjayanthimala performed the stage show at the age of five. In this show, she performed traditional Indian dance. Vyjayanthimala learned Bharatanatyam from Guru Vazhuvur Ramiah Pillai. From the age of 13, he started showing his Bharatanatyam art through stage shows.

Vyjayanthimala career

Started his film career in 1949 with South’s film Vazhakai. The film proved to be a hit. The Tamil version of this film also proved to be a hit film in which Vyjayanthimala acted. In 1951, Vyjayanthimala made his debut in Hindi films with Vajhakai’s Hindi version “Bahar”. This film also proved to be a superhit in Hindi. Vyjayanthimala was the first heroine from the South who did not have to dub her dialogues. He also learned Hindi to speak dialog in Hindi.

Vyjayanthimala’s dance sounded like an icing on the cake with her performance. By combining classical dance with Western, Vyjayanthimala invented a unique art of dance. His first successful film was Naagin in 1954. After this, in 1955 “Devdas”, he made the character of Chandramukhi a classic.

Vyjayanthimala’s performance in this film was highly appreciated and he also received the first Filmfare Award. Her pairing with Dilip Kumar in the film “Naya Daur” was well received by the audience. “Naya Daur” is considered to be one of the most successful and best films of Bollywood.
