Shahrukh Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore. In 1960, his maternal grandfather, Iftiar Ahmed was an engineer. And his grandfather Jan Muhammad was an ethnic Pathan of Afghanistan. Khan’s father Mir Taj Mohammad Khan was a freedom fighter from Peshawar (now Pakistan), British India. Till 2010, Khan’s paternal family lived in Qatali Gali, Peshawar, Shah Wali of Kissa Khawani Bazaar.

Mir Ye Khan was a follower of Abdul Ghaffar Khan and was associated with the Indian National Congress. He came to New Delhi before partition of India in 1947. Khan’s mother Latif Fatima, Shahrukh Khan, was raised in Rajendra Nagar, which is located in the vicinity of Delhi.

While his father ran a variety of businesses, including a restaurant, his family was middle-class people who lived in a rented apartment. Khan completed his early education at St. Columbia School (Delhi), where he excelled in sports as well as studies. He received many awards in his student life. In his younger days he participated in many dramas and played different roles.

Khan started his career in 1979 with the Doordarshan serial “Fauji”, in which he played the role of Komando Abhimanyu Rai. That same year he played a minor role in the English film “In Which Any Gives It Does One Once” written by Arundhati Roy. The film was based on student life at the University of Delhi.

After the death of his parents, Khan came to Mumbai from New Delhi in 1919. Her first performance in Bollywood was in the film “Deewana” which was declared successful at the box office.
