Rajinikanth was born on 12 December 1950 in a Marathi family. His mother’s name was Ramabai and father’s name was Ramoji Rao, his father was a police constable and mother housewife from Bangalore.

He used to speak Marathi at home and outside Kannada as a child. Rajinikanth’s ancestors were from Mawdi, a hard stone village near Jejuri in present-day Pune. Rajni is the youngest of four brothers and sisters. After his father retired (retired) in 1956, his family moved to Hanumantha Nagar in Bangalore and built the same house. Rajni lost her mother when she was only 9 years old.

At the age of 6, Rajni was shifted to Gavipuram Government Kannada Model Primary School where she received her primary education. Since childhood, he was very smart and had a lot of interest in cricket, football and basketball. At the same time, his brother had put him in the Ramakrishna Math.

He`s daughter Aishwarya was married to actor Dhanush on 18 November 2004. His younger daughter Soundarya is a director, producer and graphic designer in the Tamil film industry. He was married to industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar on 3 September 2010.
