Who is Nutan ?

Nutan Samarth Bahl was an Indian Indian actress known as Nutan. She has appeared in more than 70 Hindi films over four decades in her career. Considered as one of the finest female actors in the history of Hindi cinema.

Nutan`s Birth

Nutan was born in a Marathi family of 4 children, his father was director-poet Kumaseesan Samarth and his mother wife Shobhana Samarth. Nutan`s was the eldest daughter of actress Shobhana Samarth. He had three other siblings, two younger sisters and a younger brother. Her younger sister Tanuja was an actress and her niece Kajol, who is Tanuja’s daughter, is an actress.

Nutan entered the Hindi film industry in 1950 with the film Humari Beti directed by his mother Shobhana. Soon after, his mother enrolled him in La Chatelaine, a last school in Switzerland.

“Seema”, a 1955 film in which he played the role of a criminal in the reform house. Apart from being appreciated by critics and the public, Nutan also won her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

‘Paying Guest’ came in 1957, followed by ‘Dilli Ka Thug’, in which she was one of the few actresses on the bikini screen. His unflinching role in ‘Dilli Ka Thug’ contrasted with his intense role in Bimal Roy’s ‘Sujata’.

Nutan took a brief break from his films after the birth of his son Mohnish. In 1963, she returned to the silver screen, this time with a refreshing romantic comedy ‘Tere Ke Samte’. The latter says it will be his biggest performance ever.

Through the rest of the 1970s, Nutan attained the pinnacle of success, with films like ‘Rishi Nate’, ‘Dil Ne Phir Kabhi Qiya’, Milan and ‘Saraswatichandra’.

Even in the 1970s, Nutan did some of his best performances especially ‘Sadahr’, ‘Sajan Bina Suhagan’, ‘Kasturi’ and ‘Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki’. Over time, she moved into character roles and was seen in influential films such as ‘Meri Jung’ and ‘Karma’.

In 1991, after performing ‘Naseebwala’ and ‘Insaniyat’, he left for the holy abode. The films were released after his death.

Nutan’s Personal life

Nutan married Naval Lieutenant-Commander Rajneesh Bahl on 11 October 1959. Their only son Mohnish was born in 1961. He became a television and film actor.

Nutan was treated for breast cancer in 1990. In February 1991, he was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after becoming ill. On February 21, she received 12:07 P.M. Died in (ist).

With his death, Bollywood lost one of its biggest and most talented actors. His fans still remember him today.
