Birth

Mohan Lal Sukhadia was born on 31 July 1916 in Jhalawar, Rajasthan. His father’s name was Purshottam Lal Sukhadia, who was counted among the best cricketers of Mumbai and Saurashtra. He belonged to a Jain family.

Education

After completing his primary education at Nathdwara and Udaipur in Rajasthan, Mohanlal Sukhadia Virmata left for Mumbai for a diploma in Electrical Engineering from Jijabai Technological Institute. There, Mohanlal Sukhadia was also elected general secretary of the student organization.

Career

In college, Mohanlal Sukhadia came in contact with many prominent national leaders of the country such as Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Yusuf Mehrli, Ashok Mehta. Sukhadia ji used to be present in the meetings of Congress workers and played the role of an active worker.

After completion of college, Mohan Lal Sukhadia returned to Nathdwara, Rajasthan, where he started a professional life from a small electric shop. On June 1, 1938, Mohan Lal Sukhadia had an inter-caste marriage with Indubala Sukhadia. Which was strongly opposed by his family members.

Mohanlal Sukhadia was a strong opponent of diseases like caste and untouchability. He is called the leader of social change, progress and change. Death

Mohanlal Sukhadia died on 2 February 1982 in Bikaner. After her death, Smt. Indubala was elected as an MP from Lok Sabha in the Lok Sabha elections.
