Mammootty is an award-winning Indian actor who primarily acts in Malayalam cinema. During his career spanning more than twenty five years, he has acted in over 300 films as a top actor Mammootty has received several major awards for his performance. These include three National Awards, four State Awards and eight Filmfare Awards in the Best Actor category. In 1998, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.
Early life:
Mammootty was born on 7 September 1948 in a middle-class Muslim family of Ismail-a farmer and Fatima-a housewife near Vaikom in Kottayam district of the old state of Travancore-Cochin, India. Along with her siblings, she was raised in Champo, Vaikom. Mammootty`s studied up to high school from Maharaja College, Kochi, and then studied law at Ernakulam Government Law College. He also practiced advocacy for two years in Manjeri. He was married to Sulfath in 1980 and has a daughter, Surumi, and a son, Dulquar Salman.

Mammootty has acted in some non-Malayalam films and includes some Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and English films. In 1990, he K. Made his Tamil debut in Mounam Samadham directed by Madhu.
