Life of Prem Chopra
Prem was born on 23 September 1935 in Lahore. His father’s name was Ranbir Lal and his mother was Rooprani. After the partition of India, his family moved to Shimla and he completed his primary education from there. After this, he completed his undergraduate education from Punjab University. His attachment to acting started right from his college days.
Prem Chopra’s Career
After completing college, he started working at the Times of India in Mumbai. At the same time, he continued to put his own strength to enter films. After this, in the year 1962, he got a chance to work in a Punjabi film. The film “Chaudhary Karnail Singh” became a super duper hit at the box office. Prem Chopra’s career also shone with this film.

Prem worked extensively in his career with filmmakers like Devanand, Manoj Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Manmohan Desai and Yash Chopra. Along with Devanand, he did films like “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”, “Prem Pujari”, “Des Pardes” and “Lootmar”, while he appeared in films like “Purab Aur Paschim”, “Upkar” with Manoj Kumar. Prem Chopra acted in nearly 300 films so far in his four-decade long cine career.
Even today, Prem is doing his work in the cinema world. He has played comedian in films like “Delhi 6”, “Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year”, “Golmaal 3”.
