Danny started his acting career with the Nepali film ‘Saino’, but his first film was ‘Need’ (1971). After this he got work in Gulzar’s film ‘Mere Apne’. He played his first negative role in the film ‘Dhud’ (1973), the film made him famous in Hindi films. But even today, the character of the villain ‘Katya’ in Sunny Deol starrer Hindi film ‘Dastaal’ does not forget people.

Danny has worked in films in Nepali, Telugu and Tamil languages including Hindi. Sometimes he became a cruel hunter, sometimes he lost his life. Sometimes merciless villains who play hostility, sometimes patriot soldiers guarding the country.
After the film ‘Dhud’, Danny received offers from several films in succession, but lesser work and better results have been the core of Danny’s success. Danny works on his own terms, living life in his own style. They do not shoot on Sundays and spend summer vacations with family. He is the father of a son Rinjing and daughter Pema.
Danny also said in an interview, “Everyone knows that I don’t shoot in the summer and October months.” I have always gaped at work. There must be hunger inside the artist for acting. Do not even do so much work that you start getting fed up with yourself. I do not work indiscriminately to earn money. Only when the film will be good will I do it. If I start ludicrous movies to earn money, I will lose my fans. It is the responsibility of the artist to live up to the expectations of his fans.
Danny has worked with Hindi cinema legend Amitabh in ‘Agneepath’ and ‘Khuda Witness’, along with South superstar Rajinikanth in ‘Robot’. Danny has worked with Brad Pitt in the Hollywood film Seven Years in Tibet.
He has sung duets with Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi. He has also directed a film called ‘Phir Wahi Raat’ and a TV serial ‘Ajnabee’.
