Who Is Amrish Puri?
Amrish Puri, the younger brother of character actor Madan Puri, has been a major pillar in the world of Hindi films. Mr. Puri, who made his mark in films such as actor Nishant, Manthan and Bhumika, later gained fame as a villain. He played the role of Molaram in Steven Spielberg’s film “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”, made in 1949, which became quite popular. This role had such an impact that he decided to always keep his head shaved. Due to this, the role of villain also got him a lot. Amrish Puri was born on 22 June 1932 in Jalandhar, Punjab Province and British India. He was a Bollywood film actor. His mother’s name was Ved Kaur and father’s name was Lala Nihal Chand. He has two elder brothers Chaman Puri and Madan Puri. Both are film actors in Bollywood. Amarish Puri’s elder sister is Chandrakant and a younger brother is Harish Puri. Amarish Puri is married to Urmila Divekar (1957 – 2005). They have two children: Rajiv and Namrata.

When Amrish reached his brother Mumbai, his brother Madan Puri was already an established actor, known for playing the villainous role. Amrish failed his first screen test and had to find a job with LIC. Amrish Puri also performed Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
In the meantime he started performing in Prithvi Theater in the play written by Satyadev Dubey, finally he was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1979. The recognition of this theater soon had to work in television commercials and finally in films at the age of 40
